A graduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has made headlines after achieving an outstanding academic record, earning multiple As in her courses and winning several awards. The young woman, identified as Ishola Oluwatofunmi Favour, graduated with a First Class degree in Biochemistry, boasting a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.90 out of 5.0.
Record-Breaking Achievement at UNILAG
Ishola not only graduated with a First Class degree but also emerged as the overall best graduating student in the Faculty of Life Sciences and the best graduating student in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Lagos. Her achievements were shared on her TikTok page, where she displayed her results and awards, garnering widespread attention and admiration.
In her posts, she highlighted some of the courses she took during her 400-level studies, along with the impressive marks she obtained. She also revealed her full name and other details, stating: "Reintroducing: ISHOLA OLUWATOFUNMI FAVOUR, BSc. BIOCHEMISTRY, First Class Honours (CGPA 4.90/5.0), OVERALL BEST GRADUATING STUDENT, FACULTY OF LIFE SCIENCES, UNILAG, OVERALL BEST GRADUATING STUDENT, DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY, UNILAG."
Lessons Learned During Her Journey
Reflecting on her time at the university, Ishola shared the challenges she faced, including a difficult lesson even before her admission. She recounted scoring 16 points in JUPEB but still not being able to study her desired course initially. This experience taught her resilience and faith. She wrote: "Unilag taught me one of my hardest lessons before I had even been admitted. You could long for a goal for so long, work for it harder, get the result needed and that still wouldn’t be enough to win. I scored a total of 16 points in JUPEB but that still wasn’t enough for me to study my desired course apparently. So I had been disappointed by this school before and feared they would once again draw the carpet from under my feet, so I held my breath for years."
Celebrations and Reactions
Her achievements sparked an outpouring of congratulations on social media. Many users celebrated her success, with comments such as: "Girl asking for study tips congratulations," "Ughhh! The IT girl. Congratulations," "In biochemistry btw," "Girlllllllll you did thattt," and "Congrats dear. I hope to get 5.0 this semester." Others expressed their aspirations to achieve similar success, with one user writing: "Hoping to do this trend this semester please Lord."
In related news, another UNILAG graduate, Tomi Sulaimon, also gained attention after graduating with a First Class degree in Actuarial Science and Insurance, achieving a CGPA of 4.76. Her story, like Ishola's, serves as an inspiration to many students striving for academic excellence.
