UNILAG Student Triumphs Over Academic Setbacks to Graduate with Honors
A recent graduate from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has shared an inspiring story of resilience and success, having completed her undergraduate studies with a second-class upper degree despite encountering academic challenges along the way. Evidence Egwuono Adjarho, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, finished with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.24, marking a significant achievement after facing failures in two courses during her academic journey.
Graduating with a Twin Sister and Celebrating Milestones
Evidence celebrated her convocation by posting pictures on social media, including one with her twin sister, with whom she graduated. In a detailed tweet, she reflected on her time at UNILAG, acknowledging both her setbacks and accomplishments. She noted that she experienced a carryover in her first year and received an 'F' grade in her final year, yet these obstacles did not deter her from achieving academic excellence.

She won the Afrocritik Inaugural Prize for literary criticism in her penultimate year and the Atipo book review prize in her sophomore year. Additionally, she pioneered the student library in the Department of English, serving as the first student librarian and adding approximately 30 new books through donations.
Her contributions extended to curating and convening the department's first book club, where she hosted authors such as Ugochukwu Ugonna and Muttiah Baddrudeen, and collaborated with Uchenna Emelife, founder of Book O’clock. Evidence also co-moderated a panel discussion with the 2024 NLNG prize winner during the department's annual "Reading Cafe" and moderated a session at the Freshers’ Orientation for the 2024/5 academic year. Furthermore, she co-won the FASA word war debate section for her department.
