A young Nigerian man, Kayode Francis, has graduated from the University of Ilorin with a degree in Animal Science, revealing that he initially aspired to become an engineer. His story has sparked widespread reactions on social media.

From Engineering Dreams to Animal Science

Francis shared his journey on LinkedIn, explaining how his early passion for engineering shifted during his final year of secondary school. He recalled being inspired by a corps member who studied Animal Science at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. This encounter changed his perspective and led him to pursue a career in animal science.

Despite initial expectations from family and friends that he would study engineering, Francis emerged as the best graduating student in Agricultural Science in secondary school. He wrote in his yearbook that his ambition was to become an Animal Scientist.

After a failed admission attempt in 2017, he gained entry into the University of Ilorin in 2018. On June 8, 2026, he was officially inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science as a Graduate Animal Scientist.
