Wesley University Reduces Tuition Fees

In a significant move to alleviate financial pressure on families, Wesley University in Ondo State has officially announced a reduction in its tuition fees for the upcoming academic year.

University Leadership Announces Fee Reduction

The Vice-Chancellor of Wesley University, Prof. Samuel Obeka, made the announcement public during the institution's 14th convocation ceremony. He confirmed that the university's management has approved a downward review of school fees for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Prof. Obeka stated that this strategic decision was driven by the university's commitment to ensuring that no deserving student is denied access to quality education due to financial constraints. He described the institution's fees as already reasonable compared to other private universities in Nigeria but emphasized that the reduction further demonstrates their passion for producing graduates who achieve excellence in life.

Growth and Development Amidst Affordability

The Vice-Chancellor also revealed that the university, which is owned by the Methodist Church of Nigeria, has experienced an unprecedented rise in student enrolment. This growth follows the successful approval of new academic programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

While celebrating this progress, Prof. Obeka called for continued support to advance ongoing projects, expand academic programmes, and strengthen the university's position as a centre of excellence for sustainable development. He assured stakeholders that the university remains dedicated to achieving its core aims and objectives.

He explained the rationale behind the fee structure, noting, "These adjustments are essential to maintain the specialised facilities, faculty expertise, laboratory equipment, clinical training, and regulatory benchmarks required for these professional programmes."

He described the new fee balance as reflecting the university's dual mandate of compassion and quality assurance, which prioritizes affordability without compromising on academic excellence and global competitiveness.

Inspiring Academic Excellence

The convocation also served as a platform to celebrate outstanding academic achievements. Ayomide Olapade emerged as the best graduating student with an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.91.

Sharing the secret to her success, Olapade disclosed that her ability to shun distractions was key to her accomplishment. "Greatness is not a coincidence," she stressed, "it is built through courage, consistency and the refusal to stop shining even when no one is watching. It comes from the choices you make every day, the focus you keep, the habits you build and the distractions you refuse to entertain."

This fee reduction by Wesley University marks a proactive step in making higher education more accessible in Nigeria, balancing financial compassion with an unwavering commitment to high academic standards.
