The Zamfara State Government has approved the appointment of Mrs Sha'awanatu Hamza, the Deputy Rector Administration of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara, as the Acting Rector of the institution. This follows the suspension of the former Rector, Dr Sirajo Abdullahi Shinkafi.
Appointment Takes Immediate Effect
According to the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, the appointment takes immediate effect. He disclosed this in a statement made available to the press.
Investigation Panel Constituted
Mr Nakwada further revealed that the government has constituted an investigation panel to probe allegations of administrative misconduct and insubordination against Dr Shinkafi. The panel will ensure fair hearing for all parties involved.
Terms of Reference
The panel is tasked with hearing from the suspended Rector and other relevant stakeholders, investigating allegations of gross administrative misconduct and insubordination, and recommending appropriate administrative or disciplinary action based on its findings. Additionally, the panel will advise the government on measures to strengthen institutional governance, discipline, and compliance within the polytechnic.

The investigation panel will be chaired by Mujtaba Isah, former Head of Service of Zamfara State. Other members include:

Timeline
The panel is expected to complete its assignment and submit its report within ten days after inauguration. The state government reaffirms its commitment to transparency and due process throughout the process.
