Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has called on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state to make productive use of their one-year service by acquiring vocational skills and participating in entrepreneurship programs. He emphasized that these efforts are aimed at tackling youth restiveness across the country.

Swearing-In Ceremony Address

The Governor gave this charge during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream II corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp, UBE Training Centre, Bypass, Gusau. Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Nasiru Galadima Kaura, Lawal reassured corps members that their safety and welfare remain a top priority of his administration.

National Unity and Development

The Governor emphasized that the NYSC scheme remains a vital instrument for fostering national unity, integration, and development. He urged corps members to actively participate in all camp activities, particularly the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, designed to equip them with practical skills for self-reliance.

“You must obey all camp rules and regulations, and uphold discipline, leadership, teamwork, and patriotism, which the orientation course is meant to instill. These values will guide you not only during your service year but throughout your lives,” he added.

NYSC Coordinator's Remarks

In his remarks, the Zamfara State NYSC Coordinator, Mallam Muhammad Lawan Ahmad, commended Governor Lawal for his visionary leadership and continued support to the scheme and corps members deployed to the state. The Coordinator noted that the recent increase in corps members’ state allowance and the provision of additional logistics support to the temporary orientation camp demonstrate the Governor’s commitment to their welfare.
