Seplat Energy Opens 23-Month Youth Training Programme for Nigerian Graduates
Seplat Opens 23-Month Youth Training Programme

Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SEPNU) has officially launched a call for applications for its prestigious Applied Technology Training Program (ATTP), targeting young Nigerian graduates. This intensive 23-month initiative is designed to bridge the skills gap and prepare participants for technical roles within the nation's vital energy sector.

Empowering the Next Generation of Energy Professionals

The programme, which will be conducted at the Seplat Energy Technical Training Centre in Eket, aims to provide hands-on technical training and practical skills essential for entry-level technician positions. Seplat Energy emphasized that the curriculum is crafted to equip young Nigerians with world-class knowledge, thereby enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the sustainability and growth of the industry.

A significant highlight of the programme is the internationally recognised City & Guilds certification that successful trainees will receive. This certification, in Applied Engineering Technology, alongside Seplat's own completion certificate, is expected to greatly enhance the employability and professional standing of the graduates both locally and internationally.

Eligibility Criteria and Application Details

Prospective applicants must meet specific criteria to be considered. They must be Nigerian citizens who hold a National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Upper Credit in specified fields. The eligible disciplines are Chemical Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Petroleum Engineering Technology.

It is crucial to note that the ND must have been obtained no earlier than 2023. The company has explicitly stated that applicants with higher qualifications will not be considered for this particular foundation-level programme. All candidates must also possess a valid government-issued identity card.

A Legacy Programme with a New Custodian

Seplat Energy revealed that the ATTP is not a new scheme but has a legacy dating back to 1995. It was originally run by Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) and is now managed by Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited. SEPNU operates the joint venture with the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).

Interested and qualified candidates are required to submit their applications online by providing personal and educational details and uploading the necessary documents. The company has set a strict deadline for submissions: Thursday, January 30, 2026. Seplat Energy noted that only successful candidates will be contacted for the next stages of the selection process.

This announcement follows previous recruitment drives by the company, including a Graduate Trainee scheme. In a related report, a young applicant named Habeeb Oladipupo previously shared his experience of receiving an unsuccessful application notification, highlighting the competitive nature of such opportunities with leading indigenous firms like Seplat.
