Amazon Recasts 'God of War' Lead After Actor's Injury

Amazon Studios has made a major casting change for its upcoming live-action God of War television series after lead actor Ryan Hurst sustained a severe injury while filming. Hurst, who was originally cast as the iconic character Kratos, tore his bicep during a stunt sequence, an injury that requires surgery and an extended rehabilitation period.

Injury Forces Production Shift

According to reports, the lengthy recovery timeline has prompted Amazon Studios to replace Hurst in the lead role rather than delay production. The decision follows earlier reports that filming had been paused after the injury, with expectations that Hurst might not be able to return to the set until next year. Production is currently taking place in Vancouver.

The series also stars Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor and Mandy Patinkin as Odin. Amazon Studios has not publicly commented on the recasting or announced who will replace Hurst as Kratos.
