Don Julio Tequila joined filmmakers, actors, and other creatives at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA), where outstanding contributions to African film and television were recognized across several categories.
The Don's Table Initiative
As part of its involvement at the event, the brand introduced The Don's Table, a platform that featured conversations with award winners and creatives about their experiences, dedication to their craft, and the evolving landscape of African cinema.
The initiative, hosted by media personality Uti Nwachukwu, formed part of activities surrounding three award categories sponsored by Don Julio: Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Film of the Year.
Award Winners
Uzor Arukwe, widely known as "Odogwu," won the Best Actor category, while Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman received the Best Supporting Actress recognition for her performances across film and television projects.
The Best Film of the Year award went to My Father's Shadow, with Funmbi Ogunbawo and Wale Davis recognized for the production's storytelling and contribution to African cinema.
Winners in the sponsored categories were presented with engraved bottles of Don Julio 1942 during the ceremony.
Evening Highlights
Another highlight of the evening was a toast led by comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma, host of the 2026 AMVCA, in celebration of creativity and excellence within the entertainment industry.
The red carpet segment also featured Uche Montana, recognized as Fashion Icon of the Night in an outfit designed by Tubo Bereni and inspired by themes of transformation and reinvention.
The Best Supporting Actress recognition was presented by Ose Osundeko, Head of Media and Content at SWC Africa (Diageo), alongside Uche Montana.
The AMVCA continues to serve as one of Africa's leading platforms for recognizing achievements in film, television, and storytelling across the continent.
