Martell Expands 'Martell On The Move' Campaign to Abuja with Monumental Art Installation

Martell has brought its experiential campaign, Martell On The Move, to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, introducing a striking 14-foot travelling art installation named The Swift Ascendant. This initiative aims to deepen the brand's engagement with Nigeria's vibrant creative and nightlife ecosystems, following a successful launch in Lagos. The campaign is structured as a nationwide roadshow, leveraging art and culture as powerful tools to connect with consumers across the country.

The Swift Ascendant: A Symbol of Freedom and Innovation

At the core of this campaign is The Swift Ascendant, a monumental sculpture inspired by Martell's iconic swift—a symbol representing freedom, movement, and bold self-expression. Martell articulates the concept of the "Standout Swift" as individuals who challenge conventions and carve out unique paths, a theme vividly reflected in the installation's design and overarching message. This artwork is a collaborative effort with acclaimed Nigerian sculptor Dotun Popoola, crafted entirely from scrap and discarded metal.

The use of recycled materials highlights Martell's growing commitment to sustainability and reinvention, positioning the piece as both a creative masterpiece and an environmental statement. By repurposing waste, the brand underscores its dedication to innovative practices that resonate with contemporary values.

Abuja Activation: A Night of Immersive Experience

The Abuja activation reached its peak on March 21 at Fuego Lifestyle, where guests were treated to a meticulously curated brand experience. The event featured live music, signature cocktails, and a setting that mirrored the sculpture's industrial aesthetic, creating an immersive atmosphere that captivated attendees. This activation not only showcased the art but also fostered a dynamic interaction between the brand and its audience.

Brand Insights and Strategic Vision

Evane Chenuet, Marketing Director at Pernod Ricard Nigeria, emphasized that selecting Abuja aligns with the campaign's focus on ambition and boundary-pushing expression. She stated, "We brought The Swift Ascendant to Abuja because the city understands ambition, audacity, and what it means to push boundaries. Working with Dotun Popoola allowed us to create something raw and authentic, reflecting the House of Martell's over 300-year legacy of challenging the status quo. When art and atmosphere align, the experience goes beyond the visual to something people can truly feel."

Chenuet added that this initiative reflects Martell's strategy of blending its rich heritage with a contemporary edge to appeal to a younger, culturally attuned audience. By integrating art into its marketing, the brand seeks to foster deeper connections and inspire creativity among Nigerians.

Ongoing Engagement and Future Plans

With the campaign still in progress, Martell is encouraging Abuja residents to actively engage with the moving installation as it tours the city. The brand has called on the public to share photos and videos of the sculpture on social media using the hashtags #MartellOnTheMove and #BeTheStandoutSwift. This interactive approach aims to amplify the campaign's reach and foster a sense of community as the installation continues its journey across Nigeria, promoting artistic expression and sustainable practices nationwide.
