The Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Lagos State Chapter, has officially announced the 17th edition of the Lagos Architects Forum (LAF 17.0), scheduled to take place from May 6 to May 9, 2026, in Lagos. This annual gathering aims to provide a platform for professionals in the built environment, investors, policymakers, and creatives to examine emerging trends shaping architecture and urban development in the state.
Theme and Focus
The forum's theme is "Lagos Architecture: The Movie," which will explore the growing relationship between architecture and the entertainment industry. With Lagos positioned at the center of a rapidly expanding creative ecosystem, the event will spotlight how architectural design shapes and supports the infrastructure behind storytelling and entertainment, including film production studios, cinemas, theaters, performance arenas, and event venues. It will also examine the rise of creative hubs, media infrastructure, and immersive environments that are changing how stories are produced, shared, and experienced.
Chairman's Statement
Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the institute, Architect Abiodun Fatuyi, described the theme as timely and forward-looking, noting that the lines between architecture, media, and technology continue to blur. He stated that the forum will bring together architects, filmmakers, producers, investors, policymakers, and other key stakeholders to engage in thought-provoking discussions, share insights, and unlock new opportunities for collaboration.
Event Activities
Participants can expect keynote sessions, panel discussions, exhibitions, and interactive showcases highlighting innovative design solutions within the entertainment and creative industries. The forum will also serve as a platform to inspire fresh ideas on the future of urban development in Lagos, with a focus on sustainability, functionality, and cultural expression.
Venue and Registration
The event will be held at the Exhibition Hall, Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, formerly the National Arts Theatre. Interested participants can register at https://nialsc.org/laf/. Now in its 17th edition, the Lagos Architects Forum remains a leading annual gathering of architects and built environment professionals committed to advancing architectural discourse, innovation, and sustainable urban development in Lagos and beyond.
