This historic recognition was conferred upon the monarch on Friday, March 6, 2026, during a significant ceremony held at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The title was presented by the Apapo Oba Yoruba in Africa and the Diaspora (AOYAD), a collective body representing Yoruba traditional rulers from various nations. The presentation was led by Adehoumi Kiffouli, President of AOYAD and traditional ruler of the Illaso Kingdom in Benin Republic, who described the Ooni as "a central figure who continues to unite Yoruba descendants globally."
According to a statement issued by Moses Olafare, Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni's Palace, this honor acknowledges the monarch's unwavering dedication to promoting Yoruba culture, heritage, and unity among descendants across Africa and beyond. Kiffouli emphasized that the title reaffirms the Ooni's historic and spiritual position as "the natural father and rallying point of the Yoruba race worldwide."
