In a significant cultural event, the Osun State Correspondent of ThisDay Newspapers, Adeyinka Sunday Kolawole, has been honoured with a prestigious traditional title. The veteran journalist, popularly known as Yinka Kolawole, was installed as the Ojomu of Ipee Land in a ceremony presided over by the royal father of the community.
A Royal Celebration at the Onipe Palace
The investiture ceremony took place on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, at the Onipe Palace in Ipee. The event was well-attended by dignitaries, community leaders, family, and colleagues from the media industry. The monarch, Oba Mufutau Adebayo Lawal, the Onipe of Ipee, performed the installation rites, praying for a successful and impactful reign for the new chief.
In his remarks, the traditional ruler urged Chief Kolawole to uphold the oath of his new office with integrity and dedication. The programme was moderated by the Akogun of Ipee, Chief Samuel Ogunwuyi, who charged the newly installed chief to deploy his vast experience and expertise in serving the Ipee community with loyalty and commitment through the palace.
The Profile of the New Ojomu
Adeyinka Sunday Kolawole is an award-winning journalist with a distinguished career. Born in 1962 in Ipee, which is in the Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, he hails from the Elega Royal Family of the Elega’s Compound, Lagbedu Araka. He is the son of the late Prince Samuel Adebisi Kolawole and Elizabeth Awawu Kolawole.
Chief Kolawole is married to Eniola Folashade Lydia Kolawole, and the union is blessed with children. His professional role as the Osun State Correspondent for ThisDay Newspapers has made him a well-known figure in media circles.
