Pastor Mary Kristilere Launches Books on Marriage and Personal Growth
Pastor (Mrs.) Mary Kristilere recently presented two new books, Owning Your Season and Your Daily Inspirational Dose, during a thanksgiving event at Shepherdhill Baptist Church in Obanikoro, Lagos. The launch coincided with her 29th wedding anniversary with Rev. Israel Kristilere, highlighting the challenges and lessons from their nearly three-decade union.
Reflections on Early Marital Struggles
In her welcome address, Pastor Kristilere expressed deep gratitude to God for sustaining their marriage, noting that while their home now appears peaceful, the early years were fraught with difficulties. She emphasized that the first 10 to 15 years involved intense struggles with communication, misunderstandings, and unmet expectations.
"My heart is overwhelmed with gratitude to God, not because our journey was smooth, but because God has been faithful," she stated. She recalled constant conflicts and heavy silences, describing how these tested their commitment and emotional strength.
The Power of Forgiveness and Perseverance
Kristilere highlighted forgiveness as a crucial lesson learned during their marriage. "One of the hardest lessons God taught us was forgiveness—real forgiveness, daily forgiveness," she explained. She noted that forgiving while still healing helped loosen bitterness and allowed God's peace to prevail.
She also shared her personal journey as a writer, revealing that the idea for the books emerged a decade ago but was delayed by life's challenges and self-doubt. Encouragement from her husband and others ultimately helped her complete the projects.
Purpose of the Books
Owning Your Season is a devotional aimed at singles, addressing issues of identity and purpose. Kristilere observed that many young people put their lives on hold while waiting for marriage, and the book seeks to guide them in understanding their worth in God even while single.
Your Daily Inspirational Dose was inspired by social media posts she began sharing in 2016. The book's impact became evident when a woman shared that one post prevented her from taking her own life, prompting Kristilere to expand the reach beyond online platforms.
Advice from Rev. Israel Kristilere
Rev. Israel Kristilere acknowledged the patience and adjustments required in their early marriage. He advised couples that success in marriage comes through commitment, forgiveness, and consistent effort, not by chance.
The event underscored the importance of faith and perseverance in overcoming marital challenges, offering insights for both singles and couples seeking guidance.
