Nigerian singer Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold, has officially denied widespread reports that his wife, singer Simi, gave birth to twins. In a recent interview, he clarified that the couple actually welcomed a baby boy.
Correction on live television
During an appearance on Great Day Houston, a morning show on KHOU 11 television in Houston, Texas, the host congratulated the couple on having twins in early March. Adekunle Gold promptly corrected the misinformation. "Not even twins. That's the internet, by the way. We have a son," he stated. The interview was uploaded to YouTube on Thursday.
Family life with another musician
Adekunle Gold, who already shares a six-year-old daughter with Simi, also opened up about being married to a fellow musician. "It's interesting to be married to another fantastic songwriter. We bounce off ideas in the home," he said. He described their creative partnership as a source of inspiration.
New album and musical evolution
The singer also discussed his latest album, Fuji Xtra, which was released on the same night as the interview. He leads a band called The 79th Element, a name inspired by gold's atomic number 79. Adekunle Gold described his current sound as electrofuji, a lively, percussion-driven style that blends traditional fuji music with modern production.
Origin of the twin rumour
The twin speculation had been circulating on Nigerian and international entertainment platforms since January. It reportedly began after Adekunle Gold shared a cryptic Snapchat post that read: "Asked God for another child and He blessed me double." Many interpreted this as confirmation of twins, but the singer has now set the record straight.
