Aid Worker Warns Women: Don't Marry a Heartless Man

An aid worker has issued a stark warning to women about the dangers of marrying a man who lacks compassion, following a tragic incident where a woman was attacked and robbed after her husband refused to pick her up from a park. Ugama Steve took to Facebook to share the story, which has since sparked widespread discussion about spousal responsibility and the importance of character over physical appearance in choosing a life partner.

Husband's Refusal Leads to Attack

According to Steve's account, the woman had traveled to Aba to purchase goods for her family's livelihood. Upon returning to Abakaliki past 10 p.m., she called her husband to request a ride from the park. The husband, who was already at home and not unwell, refused, telling her to find a keke (tricycle) instead. Left with no other option, she hired a keke, loaded her goods, and set off. Unbeknownst to her, the keke operators were criminals known as 'one-chance' robbers. They robbed her of her phone, cash, and goods, then pushed her out of the moving vehicle.

Heartbreaking Aftermath

When the woman failed to return home, the husband began calling her phone, but no one answered. He eventually drove to the same park where he had refused to pick her up, but she was no longer there. Steve expressed outrage at the husband's initial refusal, writing: 'What is even wrong with some of you men? You can't do the bare minimum for your own wife. How were you so comfortable to ask your wife to use keke and come back home by past 10 pm in a town that goes to sleep once it is 9 pm?'

A Wife's Sacrifice Ignored

Steve highlighted that the woman was nearly single-handedly supporting the family through the proceeds of the goods she had purchased. He criticized the husband for his lack of sacrifice, stating: 'What is marriage if you can't make the simplest of sacrifice for your partner? You are now looking for a way to track down the idiots that robbed her and nearly killed her.'

Advice to Women: Look Beyond Looks

In his concluding remarks, Steve advised women to prioritize character over physical attributes when choosing a husband. 'While looking for a husband, don't just consider how handsome he is or his family background alone or his blood group and genotype, date him and see the kind of human being that he is. These traits are always there. Don't marry a heartless man,' he wrote.

The incident has resonated with many online, prompting conversations about the expectations of spouses and the importance of mutual support in marriage. Steve's warning serves as a reminder that a partner's true nature often reveals itself in moments of need.
