Born in Portland, Oregon, in 1949, Schedeen studied at the Portland Civic Theatre before moving to Hawaii for dinner theatre, then to New York for stage work, and finally to California for television. She appeared in numerous TV shows, but her most iconic role was Kate Tanner on ALF, which aired on NBC from 1986 to 1990. She starred in all 101 episodes as the mother of the family that adopted the alien ALF.
