The fiancé of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has revealed that she died inside a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State, contrary to earlier speculation linking her death to a recurrence of breast cancer.
Prophet Itunu Onadeko, who leads CCC Onibuore Cathedral in Bogije, Ibeju-Lekki, made this startling disclosure during an interview with the Celestial Reality Check, the investigative media unit of the Celestial Church of Christ, on Saturday. He recounted receiving a late-night phone call around midnight from an unknown person who broke the news of her death at a police station in Ikorodu.
Unexpected Phone Call and Immediate Reaction
According to Onadeko, the call came as a shock. "It was a random person who called me around 12 am that she died in a police station in Ikorodu," he said. He admitted he did not know the exact station but proceeded to report himself at a nearby police station to avoid any misunderstanding.
The prophet explained that in the days before her death, Osoba had visited a woman named Mrs. Kehinde Osoba, who also runs a church. A hairdresser who had been hosting the actress accompanied her on that trip, while Onadeko remained behind due to his church commitments.
Denial of Social Media Allegations
Onadeko categorically denied several allegations that had circulated widely on social media following the actress's death. These included claims that she was poisoned, that she was punished for theft by having faeces or urine poured on her, and that he misappropriated donation funds meant for her cancer surgery.
Addressing the financial aspect, he stated: "Who has evidence that the money she got for her surgery is N30m? It wasn't my account they sent the money to, it was hers." He also refuted rumours that the funds were used to build his church, insisting the money was in her control.
While acknowledging that Osoba had battled cancer and undergone surgery, Onadeko maintained that her death was not related to the illness. He also revealed that she had a smoking habit known to church members, and he had been encouraging her to quit.
Burial Arrangements and Support
Onadeko disclosed that Osoba had left the church about three weeks before her death. Her uncle, Taiwo, reportedly refused to speak with him after the news broke. He also confirmed that business mogul Mike Adenuga was among those who contributed financially to her surgery, noting that she had planned the procedure around her work schedule before undergoing the operation at Evacare Hospital in Lagos.
Osoba, who had publicly shared her cancer journey in 2024 and described it as a period of healing and growth, died on Wednesday at age 40. She is scheduled to be buried on Thursday, 13 August 2026, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
