BamBam Addresses Phone Theft at Alexx Ekubo Memorial

Nollywood actress and reality star, Bamike Olawumi, widely recognized as BamBam, has publicly addressed the incident involving her missing phone during the service of songs held for the late Alexx Ekubo. The actress clarified that her personal assistant had no involvement in the disappearance of the device, explaining that it was stolen amidst the crowd at the event and not taken by anyone on her team.

Details of the Incident

BamBam made this known in a detailed video shared on social media. She explained that the loss was discovered shortly after she and a companion entered their vehicle to depart. She stated, “I actually thought when she took my bag and the paper with me that my phone was with her. We got into the car, and I was like, ‘Where is my phone?’ She said, ‘It’s not with me.’ We ransacked my bag; it wasn’t there.”

The actress noted that she had been actively documenting parts of the service on her social media accounts earlier that evening. “I even made some story posts of some of the ministers that were performing. Pastor Jerry Eze said some powerful things that I posted on my story, so I still had my phone in the hall. It was after that the phone was taken,” she added.

Emotional Impact

BamBam expressed deep frustration regarding the personal data contained on the device, particularly highlighting the lack of a recent cloud backup. “First thing that hit me was compassion. I was sad first. I was really sad that my contacts, my videos, everything was there. I had not even updated my iCloud and a lot of my pictures were not backed up,” she said.

Widespread Theft

The incident was not an isolated one. Reports from the event confirm that at least five other attendees fell victim to similar thefts throughout the evening. BamBam noted the audacity required for perpetrators to target guests at such a sombre occasion. “What would make any human being consider a service of songs a place to rob?” she questioned. “It wasn’t just my phone that was stolen. One of Alex’s brothers lost his phone, another guy lost his too, and a few of us were looking for our phones that night.”
