Ibadan broadcaster Kola Olotu has alleged that a roadside vulcanizer was arrested in connection with the tragic killing of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) chieftain Toba Ijaya. The claim, made in a recent broadcast circulating online, introduces a new twist in the case that has gripped public attention.
Voice Note Sent to Wrong Person
According to Olotu, Toba Ijaya had earlier given the vulcanizer N4,000. Shortly after, the vulcanizer allegedly sent a voice note saying: “He is coming, be at alert.” The broadcaster claimed that the message was inadvertently sent to the wrong person, leading to the vulcanizer's arrest. However, police authorities have not officially confirmed either the arrest or the authenticity of the voice note.
Attack and Death of Toba Ijaya
Toba Ijaya was reportedly attacked by armed men along Ikorodu Road while returning home from Fadeyi, his childhood neighborhood. He later succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack and was buried amid emotional tributes from family and associates. The police have stated that an investigation into the attack has commenced, but details remain scarce.
