Ex-Husband of Late Gospel Singer Bunmi Akinaanu Details Years of Parental Alienation Struggle

Rotimi William Adeoye, the former husband of the late gospel singer Bunmi Akinaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, has publicly shared his distressing experience of being systematically shut out of his children's lives for years. In an exclusive interview, Adeoye vehemently denied portrayals of him as an absent or irresponsible father, asserting that his ex-wife deliberately blocked all avenues of communication with their two children.

Allegations of Deliberate Communication Blockade

Adeoye recounted a particularly shocking incident where he managed to obtain contact details for the children's school and spoke with them briefly. The very next day, Bunmi reportedly arrived at the school accompanied by police officers and had teachers and staff arrested for permitting the contact. By the following week, she had withdrawn the children from that institution and enrolled them elsewhere, effectively severing that connection.

He alleged that Bunmi consistently fed the children false narratives, leading them to believe he was uncaring and neglectful. Despite knowing their current school, Adeoye stated he deliberately refrained from contacting them there to avoid causing further disruption to their education or prompting another sudden school transfer.

Financial Support Met with Hostility

Addressing his financial responsibilities, Adeoye revealed that he continued to send money for the children's upkeep after the divorce. However, he claimed that each transfer was met with curses and abusive messages from Bunmi. This pattern eventually led him to cease the payments, feeling as though he was paying to be insulted. He insisted that bank records would corroborate his history of financial support, noting that funds were often sent through his sister to Bunmi's account.

Adeoye also referenced a past arrangement where, before their divorce, he would send money to his father via Bunmi's account to minimize transfer charges, highlighting a previous level of trust that had completely eroded.

Legal and Familial Efforts Thwarted

The aggrieved father disclosed that Bunmi was reportedly arrested in the UK in 2024 following concerns raised about the welfare of the children she had taken there in 2017. According to Adeoye, UK authorities investigated but took no further legal action because she is the mother. He maintains that the case remains on official record.

He further detailed his extensive efforts to seek resolution, including reporting the matter to Oriyomi Hamzat's Agidigbo FM and filing a formal complaint with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Project, Civil Conflict Unit, in October 2024. He submitted requested evidence but claims the matter was never pursued.

Attempts to Help During Illness and Reason for Speaking Out

Adeoye spoke of his failed attempts to assist during Bunmi's illness, stating that calls went unanswered and family members provided no useful information regarding her whereabouts or condition. Medical professionals within his own family also offered advice that was reportedly rejected.

He explained that his decision to break years of silence was triggered when his 15-year-old daughter publicly described him as an irresponsible father during her mother's service of songs. He believes this statement was a direct result of the false narratives fed to the children over the years. Elders from both families had previously held meetings after Bunmi took the children to the UK, and when she made it clear she would not return them, Adeoye was advised to move on with his life.

Message to His Children and Moving Forward

In a heartfelt message to his children, Rotimi William Adeoye expressed his undying love, assuring them he holds nothing against them as they are innocent and have reacted based on the information they were given. He stressed the urgent need for them to know the truth and promised to provide evidence of his years of attempts to reach them if required.

He concluded by stating his readiness to be fully present in their lives and capable of supporting them financially, emphasizing that he does not want anyone using his children to solicit online donations. While praying for healing and wishing Bunmi eternal rest, Adeoye's account paints a picture of a prolonged and painful struggle for a father's right to be part of his children's lives.
