A Christian lady and legal practitioner, Barrister Temi, has openly discussed five unconventional things she and her husband did before their wedding. The couple, who married in February 2022, relocated from Lagos to Ilorin, Kwara State, following what they described as divine guidance to build a family that exemplifies God to others.
Five Pre-Marriage Practices
In a TikTok video shared on April 13, Temi detailed the five practices she considers 'crazy' but meaningful. She emphasized that their strong Christian faith motivated these choices.
No Sleepovers or Visits
Temi revealed that she never spent the night at her husband's house during their 13-month courtship. She also noted that she never visited his home until two months before their wedding, when they were preparing to relocate. 'I never visited him, I never got to his house,' she stated.
Abstinence Before Marriage
The couple maintained sexual abstinence throughout their dating period. Temi confirmed that they never had sexual intercourse before marriage, not even once.
Daily Midnight Prayers
They prayed together every day, often at midnight, as a spiritual discipline to strengthen their relationship.
Casual Proposal
Their engagement was very informal. Temi described the proposal as casual, without any elaborate planning or public spectacle.
Visiting Important People
Before marriage, they made it a priority to visit everyone significant in each other's lives, regardless of distance. Temi explained, 'We visited all the people that mattered in our life... I went to register our relationship officially before then, so that in case there are issues, I will always have people to report him to.'
Public Reactions
The video garnered diverse comments. User julliefolly praised the couple, saying, 'God bless your union always.' ABISINUOLA expressed hope for a similar relationship, while OVVLOG noted that most practices are normal except the casual proposal. Dera nwa appreciated the godly standards, and gracefully_elizabeth called it the kind of relationship she trusts God for. However, Maximus cautioned that such practices don't guarantee a happy marriage, and Amy B rence expressed desire for a similar partner.
Temi and her husband are now parents to two boys, El-Emmanuel and El-Nathaniel. Their story continues to inspire discussions about Christian courtship and marriage boundaries.
