Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, globally known as Davido, has firmly rejected a fresh public appeal for a paternity test, declaring that the matter has been conclusively settled by multiple DNA examinations in the past.
A Teenager's Public Plea for Clarity
The singer's reaction was triggered by a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from a teenager named Anu Adeleke. In her lengthy message, Anu, who has for years claimed to be Davido's first daughter, directly asked the singer to agree to a DNA test to finally establish her identity.
She described enduring years of emotional distress, bullying, and confusion over her parentage. Anu explained that entering her teenage years prompted her to speak out, seeking clarity for her own peace of mind. She also revealed struggling with mental health challenges as a child due to the public attention surrounding the claim and expressed gratitude to Nigerians who had supported her emotionally.
Davido's Forceful Rebuttal on Social Media
Within hours of the post gaining significant traction online, Davido responded via his X (formerly Twitter) account. He categorically dismissed the request, framing it as a revival of a long-settled issue.
In his initial post, the 'Unavailable' crooner stated that five separate DNA tests had already been conducted in the past, all yielding the same result. He described the renewed claims as baseless and urged both the girl and her mother to leave him alone.
When probed by another user about whether he had ever met the girl's mother, Davido clarified that his only interaction with her was during the DNA testing process, denying any other form of relationship.
The Details of the Previous DNA Tests
Davido provided specific details to back his stance. He claimed the DNA tests were carried out at five different hospitals. According to him, three of these facilities were chosen by him, while the remaining two were selected by the girl's family. He insisted that every single result returned negative, confirming he is not the biological father.
While expressing a degree of sympathy for the teenager's situation, Davido placed the responsibility squarely on her mother for prolonging the issue. He stated that the situation was distressing and unfair to have to revisit despite the existing evidence. The singer emphatically declared that his latest comments would be his final public statement on the matter.
A Controversy with a Long History
This paternity dispute is not a new development. In January 2025, Davido's former lawyer, Prince Bobo Ajudua, had already addressed the claim publicly. In an Instagram comment at the time, Ajudua confirmed that DNA tests had been conducted at various reputable hospitals, including one chosen by the girl's family, and all indicated Davido was not the father.
Ajudua criticized the continued pursuit of the claim, labeling it unfair to both the Adeleke family and the child involved, and urged the girl's mother to let the matter rest.
It is important to note that, as of the time of reporting, no official DNA documents have been publicly released by either Davido or the claimant's family. The controversy continues to play out in the court of public opinion, with the singer maintaining a firm stance based on the reported past tests.
