Davido Paternity Dispute: Mother Seeks US Intervention, Alleges DNA Test Irregularities
Davido Paternity Row: Mother Alleges Flawed DNA Tests

The long-running paternity dispute involving Nigerian music superstar Davido has taken a dramatic new turn, with the mother of the teenage girl at the centre of the controversy publicly rejecting previous DNA findings and calling for international intervention.

Mother Alleges Past DNA Tests Were Mishandled

In a statement posted on her daughter's Instagram account on Thursday, January 15, 2026, the woman identified as Ayo Labinjoh made serious allegations about the handling of previous paternity tests. She claimed that a blood sample collected from her daughter, Anu Adeleke, back in 2014 was discarded without being tested, and that the result later presented to the family was false.

Labinjoh further alleged that individuals involved in the earlier DNA processes had misrepresented themselves and the outcome. She stated that her daughter's quest is not for financial gain or publicity, but is driven by a fundamental desire to know her true parentage and establish her identity.

Plans for US-Supervised DNA Test and Allegations of Bullying

Pointing to Davido's status as a US citizen, Labinjoh revealed her intention to formally request assistance from the US State Department. Her goal is to secure an independently supervised DNA test, believing that the involvement of external international authorities would guarantee a fair process free from local interference.

The statement was shared alongside a screen recording of a purported private conversation between Anu and Davido. In the messages, the singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, denied paternity and insisted that multiple DNA tests had already been conducted. When Anu asked to see the results of the five tests he referenced, Davido allegedly responded that he would publish them publicly and take legal action against her mother.

Labinjoh described the language used by the singer in the exchange as abusive and tantamount to bullying, asserting it has been damaging to her daughter's mental well-being.

Impact on the Teenager and Previous Denials

The mother detailed the severe emotional toll the public saga has taken on her daughter. She stated that Anu has fainted at school on several occasions and has required psychotherapy to cope with years of bullying and the intense public scrutiny surrounding her paternity claims.

This latest development contradicts previous public statements from Davido's camp. In January 2025, his former lawyer, Prince Bobo Ajudua, stated that DNA tests conducted at two reputable facilities—including one chosen by the girl's family—had cleared the singer of paternity. Ajudua called the continued claims unfair to both the Adeleke family and the child.

More recently, on January 15, 2026, Davido reiterated his position on his X (formerly Twitter) account, maintaining that five separate DNA tests at different facilities had all returned negative results. As of now, no independently verified DNA results have been released to the public, leaving the core question of paternity unresolved and the controversy set to continue.
