Denrele Edun Shares Final Voice Note From Alexx Ekubo

Media personality Denrele Edun has shared the last voice note he received from late actor Alexx Ekubo, revealing that the actor was checking on his wellbeing despite dealing with personal battles of his own.

Emotional Tribute

Sharing the emotional clip on social media, Denrele admitted that he is still struggling to come to terms with the loss. According to him, what hurts the most is knowing that Alexx found the strength to comfort others even while carrying burdens many people knew nothing about.

How They Met

Denrele recalled meeting Alexx in 2010 while judging the Mr Nigeria pageant, where the actor emerged as first runner-up. He said Alexx was determined to make a name for himself and often joked that he wanted to be more visible than the eventual winner.

Memories of Friendship

Reflecting on their friendship, Denrele described Alexx as someone who always lifted the spirits of those around him. He remembered working with the actor on a film project in Port Harcourt late last year and recalled how Alexx, despite looking frail at the time, was the one calming everyone down and cracking jokes when others were frustrated over production challenges.

Denrele also shared fond memories of the nicknames Alexx gave his friends, revealing that the actor called him "Rele" and often addressed him as "Nne" during phone conversations. He said those little moments are what make the loss even more painful.

"That's what death steals. Not just the person, but the voice that called your name differently from everyone else," he wrote.

A Final Goodbye

As Alexx Ekubo was laid to rest, Denrele said he chooses to believe the late actor has reunited with his late friend Goldie Harvey, imagining both of them laughing, dancing and catching up once again.

He ended the tribute by thanking Alexx for his kindness, laughter and constant concern for others, adding that sharing the voice note was one of the hardest things he has had to do since the actor's passing.
