Media personality IK Osakioduwa has spoken candidly about why he did not host the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) in 2026, marking the first time he has been absent from the event since its inception in 2013.
Appearing on The Morayo Show, the veteran presenter explained that his decision was guided by personal principles and timing. He emphasized his belief in divine direction and seasons in life, suggesting his non-participation was part of a larger plan.
Personal Conviction Over Career
IK stated, "This year, I wasn't destined to host. I strongly believe in where God has sent you to be and at the time they sent you to be." He quickly dismissed any speculation of a strained relationship with Africa Magic, describing their partnership as built on mutual respect and love. "Africa Magic will always be my first love when it comes to media. We are in love with each other. They love me and I love them. So there was no problem there," he added.
Brand Endorsement Boundaries
The host further revealed that his absence was largely influenced by his personal principles regarding brand endorsements linked to the event. Certain sponsorship associations for the 12th edition did not align with his values. IK explained that he maintains a strict stance against endorsing alcohol and tobacco-related brands, which were part of the event's sponsorship portfolio. "I have a few principles that didn't agree with that particular edition," he said. "I don't endorse alcoholic brands or tobacco brands. So I wouldn't have been able to serve properly in that particular edition."
IK Osakioduwa's decision underscores his commitment to maintaining integrity in his professional engagements, even at the cost of stepping back from a major platform he helped build. His relationship with Africa Magic remains strong, with both sides expressing mutual admiration.
