Nollywood actress Ini Dima-Okojie and her husband, Abasi Ene-Obong, have welcomed their first child together—a baby boy. The actress shared the joyful news in an emotional Instagram post on Monday, June 24, which also happens to be her birthday.
Emotional Birthday Announcement
In her post, Ini revealed that instead of the usual glamorous birthday photoshoot, she chose to share a photo from the day her son was born. She wrote: “Every year, my birthday comes with a photoshoot, glam, and a carefully planned concept. This year, none of that felt quite right. Instead, I’m sharing a photo from the day my son was born. The day my life changed forever.”
She added: “Because as special as every birthday has been, this one feels different. This year, I celebrate as a mother.”
Reflections on Motherhood
The actress described motherhood as a humbling and challenging experience. “There is no role I have ever played that has humbled me, stretched me, challenged me, or filled my heart quite like this one. These past weeks have been some of the most beautiful, overwhelming, exhausting, and rewarding of my life,” she wrote.
She expressed gratitude for her son, calling him the “cutest boy with the sweetest dimples.” Ini noted that watching him grow and caring for him has shown her strengths she didn’t know she had, and deepened her appreciation for mothers everywhere.
Acknowledging the Challenges
Ini admitted that the newborn phase is no joke. “The newborn phase is no joke, and I definitely didn’t fully understand what was waiting for me. But even on the hardest days, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything,” she said. She thanked her followers for their love, prayers, and support during this new chapter.
She concluded: “Today, I celebrate another year of life, but even more than that, I celebrate the privilege of being his mum. Happy birthday to me.”
