The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined that Kaylee Hottle, the 18-year-old deaf actress known for her role as Jia in the Godzilla film franchise, died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in a car crash. Her death was ruled accidental, according to Fox News.
Hottle was a passenger in a 1995 Honda Accord that left a two-lane road and struck a culvert in Ijamsville, Maryland. Authorities believe excessive speed contributed to the crash. She was transported to a trauma center but was later pronounced dead.
Father's Emotional Response
Joshua Hottle, Kaylee's father, shared a heartfelt message in American Sign Language, revealing that Kaylee's mother and four siblings are devastated by the loss. He said he was traveling to Maryland to bring her body home.
In a remarkable display of forgiveness, Joshua Hottle revealed he had contacted the 19-year-old driver involved in the crash. He wrote: "I have forgiven you," urging the young man not to let the tragedy ruin the rest of his life.

Born into a multigenerational deaf family, Kaylee Hottle became a strong advocate for deaf representation in entertainment. She played Jia in Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, using sign language to communicate with Kong on screen.
