Kenyan Woman Finds Husband Married Househelp After Return

A Kenyan woman, Beverline Mbithi, who traveled to Saudi Arabia seeking better opportunities for her family, has recounted how her marriage ended when her husband wedded their househelp. Speaking to Kenya Studio, Beverline, a recent beauty school graduate, said she met her partner in 2002 after he approached her, noting that he admired her long dresses at church and fell in love.

Early Life and Marriage

After completing her Form Four exams, Beverline went to Uganda to reconnect with her mother's relatives. However, she later requested to return home for college, but her real motive was to be with her boyfriend. The couple eventually married and renewed their vows in a grand ceremony. Their union was blessed with three children, and life was peaceful until Beverline lost her job and decided to work in Saudi Arabia.

They mutually agreed that the move was necessary, but Beverline was unaware that ten months later, her marriage would crumble. 'After COVID-19, I noticed the children were not okay. When I told my boss I wanted to leave, she became angry, and I decided to go. I was severely beaten, and I reached a police station, which helped me return home,' Beverline said.

Discovery of Betrayal

While still in Saudi Arabia, Beverline received a call informing her that their maid and her husband were getting married. 'When I landed, I stayed with my sister. My daughter told me, "Do you know that dad sleeps with aunty in his room?" That crushed me, and I asked God where I went wrong,' she recounted.

He had assured her he would remain faithful, but that was not the case. 'When I went to my house, I found it in disarray, with the ceiling board fallen. Witchcraft is real; I saw an onion in my bedroom, cut and mended with black thread, containing a paper that read, "I want Samuel Ochieng Dola and I love Bridgit." I took the paper and prayed,' she explained.

Confrontation and Current Situation

When Beverline confronted her husband about his infidelity, he was rude and arrogant. In the presence of others, he became violent. After a meeting, he initially said he wanted to return to his family but later expressed a desire for polygamy. The couple remains separated, but Beverline still loves her husband and pleaded for him to come back. 'You remember what we said at the altar? Until death do us part,' she said.
