Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman and country music star Keith Urban have officially finalised their divorce, bringing a swift end to their nearly two-decade marriage. The pair, both 58 years old, reached a settlement that was formally filed in court on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Key Terms of the Divorce Settlement
The legal documents reveal a significant and amicable financial agreement. Both Kidman and Urban have chosen to waive all rights to child support and spousal support. This means neither will make regular payments to the other. Additionally, each party will be responsible for covering their own legal fees and expenses incurred during the divorce proceedings.
The divorce was initiated by Kidman just three months prior, in September 2025, with the cited reason being irreconcilable differences. A source had first confirmed their separation to PEOPLE magazine at that time. The couple had tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony back in June 2006.
Co-Parenting Plan for Daughters Sunday and Faith
At the heart of the agreement is a detailed parenting plan for their two teenage daughters: Sunday, 17, and Faith, 15. The plan emphasises cooperation and respect between the former spouses for the well-being of their children.
The court documents mandate that both parents must "behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent and nurturing relationship with the child even though they are divorced." A crucial clause forbids them from speaking poorly about one another or each other's family members. They are also required to encourage their daughters to maintain a strong and comfortable bond with both parents.
In terms of physical custody, Nicole Kidman's home will serve as the primary residence for the girls. The agreement grants her parenting time for 306 days out of the year. Keith Urban has been allocated 59 days annually, which includes every other weekend from 10 a.m. on Saturday to 6 p.m. on Sunday evening.
Joint Decision-Making and Moving Forward
Despite the division of time, both Kidman and Urban retain joint responsibility for all major decisions affecting their daughters' lives, including matters related to education, health, and welfare. This structure aims to ensure both parents remain actively involved in key aspects of their children's upbringing.
The swift and seemingly cooperative nature of the settlement suggests a mutual desire to prioritise their family's privacy and stability. By waiving financial support and establishing a clear, respectful co-parenting framework, the former couple is setting a focused path forward for their new family dynamic post-divorce.
