Newly surfaced chat conversations between media personality Mayowa Lambe and her estranged husband, OAP Roby Ekpo, have shed light on the reasons behind the dissolution of their marriage. The chats, shared by a close friend of Mayowa, depict Roby pleading for forgiveness while Mayowa firmly expresses her decision to end the union.
Reasons for the breakup
Mayowa cited several grievances, including that her self-esteem suffered greatly due to Roby's alleged flirtations with other women. She claimed that Roby would shower other girls with romantic words he never said to her, making her feel unattractive and inadequate.
She also accused Roby of raising his hand to hit her in the presence of her brother. According to her, Roby later twisted the incident, forcing her to apologize for the altercation.
In a heartbreaking revelation, Mayowa stated, 'Because of all this crap, I foolishly almost overdosed on sleeping pills because of you.' She further lamented that she has no positive memories of their wedding anniversaries, as three consecutive anniversaries were marred by fights over Roby's interactions with other women. 'Even on our wedding anniversary you were still flirting with some girl, telling her to meet you where we were shooting together,' she wrote.
Mayowa added that in previous years, there was always another woman in Abuja or elsewhere with whom Roby conversed daily, even while she lay beside him.
Roby's response
In the chats, Roby apologized and promised to change, insisting that the distance between them—she in the US and he in Nigeria—prevented her from seeing his transformation. However, Mayowa rejected his plea, stating that the damage he caused remained in her mind and she could not move past it.
