Nollywood actress and TV host Nancy Isime has shared intimate details about her Christian faith, describing herself as not a typical Nigerian Christian. In a recent podcast interview with Jay On-Air, the movie star explained that she does not look up to a pastor or priest for direction but instead relies on her intuition to follow Jesus. She also mentioned having anchors like Apostle Joshua Selman, whom she learns from.
Nancy Isime’s Faith Revelation
“I don’t serve mortals. So, I don’t have the need to perform for mortals. And I would always have a mind of my own. I would always do my own thing. I would always figure out God for myself,” Isime stated during the interview. She added, “But of course, I have anchors, whom I listen to; preachers like Apostle Joshua Selman. When you understand the kind of preachers I listen to, you will understand where I am coming from. I am not your typical Nigerian Christian, and I don’t want to be. I have my own mindset just like Jesus.”
Previous Controversy Over Gemstones
This revelation comes months after Nancy Isime faced criticism for including gemstones in her prayer area. In 2025, the actress shared a video on Instagram showing her unboxing 43kg of amethyst gemstones mined in Nigeria, which she placed in the corners of her rooftop prayer space. The area also featured a wall inscribed with Bible scriptures, and Nancy was seen sitting on a yoga mat in the sukhasana pose.
Social media commentator Solomon Buchi criticized her actions, calling them witchcraft and syncretism. He argued that mixing elements from different religions, such as amethyst stones and yoga, contradicts Christianity. “That is not Christianity, that is new age practice, witchcraft, demonic operation or cultism,” Buchi said. “There is no difference between her and people who are Christians and are in secret cults or witches. You cannot add Jesus to any other thing. If it’s not Jesus all by itself, it is not Jesus.”
Support from Rita Dominic
Despite the backlash, veteran actress Rita Dominic praised Nancy Isime on social media, stating that her upbringing was fantastic. On X, Dominic tweeted that whoever raised the 33-year-old actress did a fantastic job.
Nancy Isime continues to defend her unique approach to faith, emphasizing her personal connection with God and her refusal to conform to traditional expectations.
