Senator Ned Nwoko has taken a significant step in his ongoing public dispute with his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, by releasing a private message he claims provides crucial context to their marital breakdown.
The October 2025 WhatsApp Message
In a statement issued by his communication team, the senator shared what he described as a WhatsApp message sent to Regina Daniels on 17 October 2025. According to Nwoko, this message outlines his growing concerns long before their issues spilled into the public domain or reached the courts.
The message reportedly expressed frustration over Regina's lifestyle choices. Nwoko complained about late-night visits from her friends, noise disturbances, and erratic behaviour that he felt disrupted their household. He accused her of disrespecting established house rules and questioned the negative influence of her social circle.
A central allegation in the message was concern over alleged substance abuse. Nwoko's statement claims that by October 2025, there had been nearly eight months of persistent issues related to drugs and alcohol, leading to unsafe associations and growing instability at home.
Denial of Domestic Violence Claims
The senator's team used the release of the message to strongly counter claims of domestic violence that have surfaced publicly. The statement asserts that the October message shows no evidence of violence and was focused solely on intervention.
It was claimed that no member of the domestic staff reported or witnessed any physical abuse, and no such complaints were made at the time. The team suggested the violence allegation only emerged after the situation became public, describing it as a "convenient narrative" to deflect from deeper household issues.
Furthermore, the statement referenced an incident where Regina Daniels' own mother allegedly described a video suggesting violence as a prank, which Nwoko's team says undermines the abuse claims.
Allegations of Substance Abuse and Intervention Efforts
Nwoko's communication provided further details on the substance abuse allegations. The team stated that independent toxicology reports from Nigeria and South Africa confirmed the presence of multiple substances, findings they say validate the concerns raised in the October WhatsApp message.
According to the statement, professional help was offered privately well before the dispute became a public spectacle. This included therapy and encouragement to check into a rehabilitation centre in Asokoro. The October message itself contained an ultimatum: Nwoko warned he would cease funding her lifestyle unless she continued therapy or entered rehab.
The senator's team framed his actions, including financial restrictions, as attempts to stop enabling a destructive pattern rather than acts of control or retaliation. They emphasized that the welfare of their children and Regina's health were his primary motivations.
From Private Intervention to Public Dispute
The statement accused Regina Daniels of shifting strategy from private intervention to public accusations to gain sympathy and avoid long-term treatment. It characterized her social media posts and videos as emotional appeals made only after private resolution efforts had collapsed.
"The October message stands as a factual anchor," the statement declared, arguing it was written in real time, untainted by upcoming court proceedings or public pressure. Nwoko's team claimed that medical reports, staff statements, therapy records, and other contemporaneous messages all support their version of events.
They also signalled an intent to address what they called other inaccuracies in Regina's public statements, including claims related to age and infidelity, at the appropriate time. This suggests the public feud between the senator and the actress is far from over.
