Nigerian Man Acquires Dream Car One Month After Canadian Citizenship
A Nigerian man named Adesanya Adebayo has celebrated purchasing his dream car in Canada, just one month after obtaining Canadian citizenship. Adebayo acquired a Toyota Grand Highlander 2026 XLE Hybrid, sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter) with pictures and a video of the vehicle.
Celebration of New Citizenship and Car
Adebayo, who became a permanent resident over three years ago, finally achieved Canadian citizenship alongside his partner. Shortly after, he bought the luxury hybrid SUV, describing it as beautiful, luxurious, and worth the wait. His tweet on April 30 read: "I bought my dream car one month after becoming a Canadian citizen. Toyota Grand Highlander 2026 XLE HYBRID. It's beautiful! It's Luxury!! It's worth the wait!!!"
Mixed Reactions from Social Media Users
The announcement drew varied responses. Many congratulated him, with one user noting the fuel savings of a hybrid. Another advised new migrants to emulate Adebayo by not rushing to finance a new car upon arrival in Canada, but instead waiting to get established first. However, some critics questioned whether he bought the car outright or financed it over several years. Others joked about his dream car being a 2026 model, suggesting he only started dreaming recently. A few users praised the design of new Toyota hybrids and defended him against negativity.
One user offered practical advice: "Remember to drive it a lot during winter to avoid issues with the 12v auxiliary battery and hybrid battery systems." Another said, "Congratulations to you and your family. Bad belle people will come here to say finance, but nothing concern anyone. Go on and enjoy sir."
