Nigerian Woman Recants Harassment Claim, Says Video Staged

A South Africa-based Nigerian woman, who earlier accused her neighbour of harassing her 11-year-old daughter, has made a dramatic u-turn, now claiming the viral video was merely staged content. The woman, identified as Asa Obisouth, had previously confronted her neighbour after her daughter alleged the man attempted to drag her into his apartment. The confrontation was captured on video and widely shared on social media.

Woman's Change of Story

In an update shared on Wednesday, Obisouth stated that the video was created as content and that her South African neighbour did not actually harm her child. She pleaded with the public not to vilify the man, describing him as a good person. “Please do not harm him or see him as a bad person. He is actually a good person. Find a place in your heart to forgive us. It's just a content. We didn't mean to escalate it,” she said.

Neighbour's Response

The neighbour also issued a statement, confirming that the video was staged for educational purposes. He added that the intention was to raise awareness about child safety, not to cause panic or harm. The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with many questioning the ethics of staging such a sensitive scenario.
