Opay User Refunds N553k Mistakenly Sent, Sender Reacts

A Nigerian man has gone viral after refunding N553,000 that was mistakenly transferred to his OPay account, declining a reward offered by the sender. The incident has sparked widespread praise on social media for his integrity.

How the Mistaken Transfer Happened

Oba Handler, a Facebook user, received an unexpected alert of N553,000 in his OPay account. The sender, identified as Adebayo Mercy, had mistakenly sent the money. Upon realizing the error, the sender's husband contacted Oba and offered him N50,000 as a token of appreciation for returning the funds.

Oba's Decision to Refund Full Amount

Despite the tempting offer, Oba refused to keep any part of the money. In a Facebook post, he wrote: 'I have refunded the 553k that was mistakenly transferred into my OPay account yesterday by Adebayo Mercy. Though the husband told me to keep 50k, I told him there was no need. For the records, it was sent back to the same account it came from.' He added, 'The devil has a way of tempting people, especially in this broke period when mistakes like this happen. Thank you all.'
