Veteran Nollywood actors, including Jide Kosoko, Yinka Quadri, and Fathia Balogun, have arrived in Ilaro, Ogun State, to attend the burial of late actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo. The solemn ceremony, held on Monday, follows Ogogo’s death on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, after a battle with stage four cancer.
Emotional Scenes as Colleagues Mourn
Videos shared online captured the emotional atmosphere at Ogogo’s hometown in Ilaro, where Yinka Quadri was seen in tears as the remains of his longtime colleague were carried for the burial rites. Quadri shared a close bond with Ogogo, having built a decades-long friendship through their careers in the Yoruba film industry. The two actors were also born in the same year, making Ogogo’s death a particularly painful loss for Quadri.
Other videos showed Quadri alongside Jide Kosoko as they mourned their late colleague. Femi Adebayo also paid his respects as colleagues and loved ones gathered to bid Ogogo farewell.
Veterans Pay Final Respects
Other veteran Nollywood actors, including Dele Odule, Olaiya Igwe, Mr Latin, and Fathia Balogun, also showed up for the solemn burial ceremony. The gathering underscored the deep respect Ogogo commanded in the Nigerian film industry, where he was regarded as one of its most respected veterans.

Family’s Plea for Help
On August 18, Ogogo’s daughter, Taiwo, had appealed for urgent medical help for her father after revealing that he was battling stage four cancer. She said hospitals had refused to treat him and disclosed that although he had secured an Indian visa, he was declared unfit to fly abroad for treatment. Taiwo also said the family was not seeking financial assistance but wanted medical experts or anyone with the expertise to treat her father.
Ogogo was one of the respected veterans of the Nigerian film industry, with a career spanning decades. He was particularly known for his contributions to Yoruba-language cinema and worked as an actor, filmmaker, and theatre practitioner.
