Nigerian music star Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has provided a detailed account of the events that led to a physical confrontation at a concert headlined by fellow artist Odumodublvck. The incident, which occurred on December 19, 2025, was captured on video and quickly spread across social media platforms.
The Alleged Provocation That Sparked the Fight
According to Portable's explanation, the altercation began as he was making his entrance into the concert venue. The "Zazoo Zeh" hitmaker claims that an individual approached him and whispered a deeply offensive statement in his ear. Portable alleges the comment was a direct insult aimed at Prophet Muhammad, the central figure of Islam.
Portable recounted the moment in a mix of English and Pidgin, stating the person told him, "Anobi Mohammed ti ku," which translates to "Prophet Mohammed is dead." He emphasized that this provocative remark immediately drew the attention of others nearby, quickly escalating the situation. "Na him like 15 people gather only me. Na God say make I stand o. I stand strong," Portable said, describing how he felt surrounded and chose not to back down.
From Confrontation to Performance
The singer insisted that the hostility directed at him led to an exchange of blows. "Dem throw blow, I throw blow. Dem do Gidibo, I do Gidibo," he stated, using a local term for physical aggression. Security personnel eventually intervened to separate the parties and restore order at the event.
Despite the tense start, Portable noted that the mood shifted dramatically by the time he took the stage for his performance. He claimed that the energy from the crowd turned positive, with some of the very individuals involved in the earlier clash cheering him on. "Before I perform, even people wey follow fight me dey shout Zazoo," Portable added, highlighting the unexpected turn of events.
Social Media Reactions and Broader Context
The viral video of the fight prompted a wave of reactions from Nigerian social media users. Opinions were sharply divided, reflecting the controversial nature of the incident.
Some users criticized Portable's reaction. One user, @dreal_prosper, commented, "Portable no know say he just prove say na him be the cow wey that Alfa been de talk about," suggesting the singer played into a stereotype. Another, @DSatoshislayer, echoed a similar sentiment while also faulting the instigator.
Others defended the singer's right to be offended. User @mrnottnice wrote, "That person was wrong. They suppose arrest that person. I no be Muslim but I believe we should respect everybody’s own," calling for mutual respect among different faiths.
This incident is not the first time Portable has been at the center of public controversy. The singer was recently called out by social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkman (VDM), for his behavior at another public event, Felabration. VDM had accused Portable of misconduct and promised to seek justice for an alleged victim.
The altercation at the Odumodublvck concert underscores the often-volatile mix of celebrity culture, passionate fan interactions, and sensitive religious sentiments within Nigeria's vibrant entertainment scene. Portable's decision to publicly address the cause of the fight provides his perspective on an event that continues to generate discussion online.
