The sudden death of veteran Nollywood actor Solomon Akiyesi has left fans and colleagues in shock, with his final social media post becoming a focal point of mourning. Akiyesi, who had been largely inactive online since 2025, surprised followers with a cryptic Facebook update in February 2026, featuring a portrait showing only his side view.

According to reports, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu, confirmed the actor's passing on Monday. Yakubu disclosed that Akiyesi died in his sleep on Sunday, and his body has been deposited at a mortuary in Abuja.

“Yes, it is true. He died yesterday. Slept and did not wake up. We await further details from the family. His body is in the morgue in Abuja, where the sad incident happened,” Yakubu was quoted as saying.

Early Life and Career

Born and raised in Ososo, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Akiyesi completed his early education in his hometown before attending the University of Ibadan for his tertiary studies. He built a distinguished career as an actor, producer, and director, featuring in notable films such as Deadly Affair (1995), Olaedo the Fisher Girl 2 (2015), Gen Z Wife (2024), Kiss My Pain, and Heart of a Saint. He also served on the Board of the Actors Guild of Nigeria and was President of the National Association of Ososo Creatives.

Marriage Controversy

Beyond his professional achievements, Akiyesi was once at the center of a marriage controversy. In April 2013, his wedding to his second wife, Uloma Agwu, was disrupted when his first wife, Lilian, reportedly stormed the church ceremony in Lagos to clarify that they were still legally married. The incident drew significant attention, and the actor later issued an apology for the disruption.
