TikTok content creator Scope2dTee has addressed the controversy surrounding his viral video, clarifying that the emotional clip was a dramatized warning and not a real confession. The video, which showed him allegedly receiving N100,000 from bandits during a giveaway and then being demanded N100 million, sparked widespread reactions online.
Scope2dTee's Clarification
In a follow-up post, Scope2dTee explained that the story was not about him personally. He said the video was inspired by a clip he saw online on June 7, which discussed reports of people receiving money from criminal elements during giveaways. His goal was to educate viewers, especially young people, about the dangers of accepting money from unknown sources online.
“The video was meant to pass a message; it didn’t happen to me,” he stated. He emphasized that every action has consequences and that his dramatic presentation was designed to make the message memorable. He urged parents to talk to their children about such risks.
Reactions from Social Media Users
The clarification drew mixed reactions. User @Itz prince commented, “Yes I swear to almighty God i entered their live video yesterday.” @oluwafunmilayo said, “I'm angry with you before but now I'm no longer angry God bless you sir.” However, @Mrlarde30 criticized him harshly, writing, “We should treat people like this badly, you should be wicked and heartless to folks like this. No morals, no sympathy, it's beyond poverty, this guy should suffer for a very long time due to this.”
Broader Context: Bandit Attacks in Nigeria
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, armed bandits on about 150 motorcycles stormed the Dangulbi community in Sokoto state, killing 17 people, including seven Sallah visitors. The attackers looted shops, abducted residents, and forced villagers to flee into nearby forests. Locals have appealed to the federal and state governments for urgent intervention, warning that continued insecurity threatens farming and daily life.
