Super Eagles and Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare has refuted allegations that he deliberately disrupted a training session to force a move away from the club. The 25-year-old Nigerian international was left out of Wolves' pre-season friendly against Maidenhead United on Wednesday, sparking speculation about his future.
Allegations of Training Disruption
A report by BBC Sport published on Wednesday claimed that on Monday, Arokodare sat down on the pitch at Wolves' training ground and demanded the club allow him to join Serie A side Fiorentina. The following day, according to Mirror UK, extra security was deployed to prevent the striker from returning to the training facility.
However, Arokodare has strongly denied these claims, labeling the reports as inaccurate and insisting he has always conducted himself professionally.
Arokodare's Statement
On his Instagram page, Arokodare wrote: "I was very surprised and disappointed to see the media reports today, many of which are inaccurate. Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards. My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my teammates and the club whenever I am called upon."
He added: "I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract."
Transfer Speculation
Arokodare has been linked with Fiorentina and Turkish side Trabzonspor this month. The striker, who scored just three Premier League goals in 33 appearances last season, is reportedly surplus to Wolves' plans. The club signed him for approximately £24 million last summer, but he is now expected to depart. Sources indicate Arokodare prefers a move to Italy this summer.
Despite the transfer rumors, Arokodare maintains his focus on fulfilling his contractual obligations at Wolves.
