Social media critic VeryDarkMan, born Martin Vincent Ortse, has disclosed that he deliberately avoided the traditional wedding of influencer Peller and his bride Jarvis, held in Lagos on Saturday, August 1, 2026, due to serious safety concerns. During a TikTok live session, VDM explained that his strained relationship with the Lagos Police and the presence of newly acquired enemies in the state made attending the ceremony too risky.
Why VeryDarkMan Skipped the Wedding
VDM stated that he could not travel to Lagos because he now has "bigger enemies" in the state and that his rapport with the Lagos Police has deteriorated significantly. He expressed fear of being set up if he set foot in Lagos, which is why he chose to stay away despite having his aso-ebi (traditional wedding attire) ready at home.
"Unfortunately I could not go to Lagos because I have so many enemies, right? I have bigger enemies now in Lagos, right now, and the Lagos police right now — We are not friends. Immediately I go into Lagos, there's a high chance that I might be set up, so that's why I could not go to Lagos. But I have the asoebi here, unfortunately," he said.

He revealed that he watched the wedding remotely via a live stream and found himself smiling throughout, describing the ceremony as beautiful. VDM also extended his blessings to the couple's unborn child, expressing confidence in Peller's bright future and predicting that he will one day use his platform for meaningful impact. "Their marriage is blessed, and the child that they are expecting is blessed as well, you understand? That boy has a very bright future in the country. He's going to use his influence one day for something," he said.
