Relationship counselor Chidima Praise has publicly taken full responsibility for the cancellation of her upcoming wedding, stating that she was the one who erred in the relationship. In a series of Facebook posts, Praise clarified that the decision to call off the wedding was mutual, but she felt compelled to speak out after noticing that some people were directing accusations at her former fiancé, James Abbass.
Mutual Decision to Cancel Wedding
In an initial statement issued on Facebook, Praise announced that the wedding, which she had previously announced, would no longer take place. She described the period as a painful season for both her and their families, and asked for continued prayers and privacy as she heals and trusts God with her future. She emphasized that she was not ready to give details about why or how the wedding was cancelled, and urged people not to force her to do so.
Praise Takes the Blame
In a subsequent post on Tuesday, July 21, Praise admitted that she was the one who erred in the relationship. She explained that she was making this known because some people were already pointing accusing fingers at James. According to her, James is not a bad man, and neither is she. They have talked, prayed, forgiven each other, and moved on peacefully without drama.
She wrote: “I was the one who erred in the relationship and am not taking the blame to look like a hero. It's the truth. Am saying this because of people that is already pointing accusing fingers on my supposed husband to be. We talked, we forgive each other, we knelt down to beg. We were on our knees his pastors prayed for us and we left peacefully, No drama, no trouble.”
Spiritual Reflection and Gratitude
Praise expressed her trust in God, acknowledging that she still does not understand everything God is doing but trusts Him even in her unfaithfulness. She stated, “But one thing is sure, I broke the edge! The serpent bite. Kaii, so hard. The devil is wicked oooo. But God prevailed in the end.” She reiterated that the wedding was cancelled with both their consent and approval, and she felt the need to post the cancellation because she had posted the invitation, not because she owed anyone an explanation but because she finds more peace doing so.
She concluded by thanking everyone for their encouragement and love shown, and urged them to do with the information whatever they choose.
