Former manager Ayo Shonaiya has stirred online conversations by claiming that women deliberately queue to have children with popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1. Shonaiya, who previously managed the artist, made the remarks on his official X page in response to recent paternity allegations against the singer.
Shonaiya Defends K1 Amid Paternity Claims
Shonaiya backed K1's controversial stance that a child born without mutual agreement between both parents is 'a gift.' He asserted that many women pursue the singer with the explicit goal of bearing his children. 'Wasiu Ayinde is an enigma. People who have never been around him don’t know what his life is. He is a “Chosen One”. Women line up just to be noticed by him, want to get pregnant by him, and have his offspring. I have seen this with my own eyes,' Shonaiya wrote.
He further revealed that the phenomenon is ongoing: 'It’s crazy. I promise you, as we speak, there are still some women out there who are waiting for their “turn” to get pregnant by him. This is his reality. His world is different. He is not an ordinary human being. Only people who have been around him for a considerable period will understand what I’m saying.'
Performance Sparks Controversy
The comments come days after K1's performance at the 10th coronation anniversary of the Onikate of Ikate, Oba Lateef Adams, went viral. During the performance, K1 sang, 'Anybody who has an unnecessary pregnancy is just like a giveaway.' The line sparked widespread reactions, with many linking it to a viral interview given by Ogechi Eleana to Feel Right TV. Eleana alleged that K1 had refused to take responsibility for their daughter, Azeezat.
Understanding the Backlash
The paternity claim and K1's on-stage remark have reignited debate about the responsibilities of public figures in Nigeria. While some have criticized K1 for his dismissive attitude, Shonaiya's defense presents a contrasting narrative, painting K1 as a unique figure whose bloodline is highly sought after. The former manager's statements emphasize that the women involved are acting willingly, comparing the children to souvenirs for fans.
'Everyone is talking about him and making comments. But do we wonder about the women who willingly and knowingly want to have children for this man? Why? Because they want a child with his bloodline. It really is like a “souvenir”,' Shonaiya added.
As the story continues to trend, K1 has not directly responded to the allegations. Meanwhile, the debate over paternity, consent, and celebrity influence shows no signs of cooling down.
