Nigerian DJ Completes 288-Hour Marathon, Awaits Guinness World Records Confirmation

Princess Ntuk Williams, the Nigerian disc jockey popularly known as DJ Pretty Play, has successfully completed her ambitious bid to set a new world record for the longest marathon club DJing. The entertainer embarked on the grueling 288-hour challenge, which commenced on March 11 at Bay Lounge in the Lekki area of Lagos, and triumphantly reached the milestone on Monday, March 23, 2026.

A Mission to Push Beyond Limits

Ahead of the attempt, DJ Pretty Play described the endeavor as a mission to push beyond conventional limits and showcase the transformative power of discipline and unwavering determination. In a heartfelt statement, she expressed, "I step out with one mission – to push beyond limits and attempt history. This is more than a challenge; it’s about discipline, passion, and proving that with determination, anything is possible." She further emphasized the significance of the record attempt, adding, "I’m officially attempting to break the Guinness World Records for the Longest Marathon Club DJ-ing, and every second counts."

Celebrity Support and Previous Setback

The marathon session attracted significant attention and support from numerous Nigerian celebrities, who were spotted cheering her on throughout the feat. This successful attempt came after an earlier try, which began on March 3, was unfortunately halted on the third day due to a rule breach. According to strict Guinness World Records guidelines, a song cannot be repeated within a four-hour window; DJ Pretty Play accidentally repeated songs, leading to immediate disqualification. Reflecting on the setback, she explained, "It’s rather unfortunate that I have to restart my 288-hour DJing attempt. According to GWR guidelines, you can’t repeat a song within four hours, and it means instant disqualification. So, as it stands, I have been disqualified and have to start all over." This experience underscored the rigorous standards required for such world record attempts.

Awaiting Official Verification and Current Record

With the 288-hour marathon now completed, DJ Pretty Play's achievement awaits official verification from Guinness World Records. The current record for the longest marathon club DJing stands at 10 days and 4 hours, precisely 244 hours and 2 minutes, set by Italy’s DJ Faber Moreira on May 26, 2024. If verified, DJ Pretty Play's feat would surpass this by a significant margin, potentially setting a new benchmark in the global entertainment industry.

The accomplishment not only highlights individual perseverance but also shines a spotlight on Nigeria's vibrant entertainment scene, demonstrating the country's capacity for producing world-class talent and record-breaking performances. As the verification process unfolds, fans and supporters eagerly anticipate a positive outcome, which would mark a historic moment for Nigerian DJs and the broader African entertainment community.
