Global imaging leader Canon recently organized an exclusive movie screening event in Lagos, featuring acclaimed Nigerian filmmaker Nora Awolowo's short film The Racket Queen. The production was entirely shot using Canon's professional EOS C400 cinema camera, demonstrating the powerful synergy between artistic vision and cutting-edge technology.
A Celebration of Cinematic Excellence
The exclusive screening brought together journalists from arts, culture, entertainment, business, and technology publications, providing them with a first look at Awolowo's latest work. The event also included an industry screening specifically for filmmakers, peers, and members of Canon's creative network, creating valuable opportunities for collaboration and networking.

During the event, Canon introduced the new EOS C50 cinema camera, an entry-level professional tool designed to make high-quality film production more accessible to emerging creators. The compact yet powerful device expands Canon's professional cinema lineup, reinforcing the brand's commitment to supporting Africa's growing creative community.
Rashad Ghani, B2C Business Unit Director for Canon Central and North Africa, emphasized the company's mission during his address. The Racket Queen tells the inspiring story of a young girl who discovers her passion for tennis and, with her mother's support, pursues her dream of becoming a star. The narrative explores themes of triumph, setbacks, and sacrifices, featuring compelling performances by Pamilerin Ayodeji, Tunbosun Aiyedehin, Kayode Jnr Ojuolape, and Folu Storms.
