Aisha Buhari Completes Mourning Period as Daughter Zahra Prays
Aisha Buhari completes 4-month mourning period

Former First Lady Aisha Buhari has officially completed her mandatory mourning period for her late husband, former President Muhammadu Buhari, marking a significant transition in her life.

Completion of Traditional Mourning Period

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Aisha Buhari concluded her Iddah period exactly four months and ten days after the passing of her husband. This Islamic mourning tradition requires widows to observe a specific period of seclusion and reflection following their husband's death.

The former president passed away on July 13, 2025, in London at the age of 82. His death marked the end of an era in Nigerian politics and began a challenging period of adjustment for his family.

Daughter's Heartfelt Tribute

Zahra Buhari-Indimi, one of the couple's daughters, took to Instagram to share an emotional message about her mother's journey through the mourning period. She described how her mother observed the Iddah with remarkable patience and dignity while maintaining strong faith in Allah's plan.

In her social media post, Zahra wrote: "Today marks the completion of her 4 months and 10 days of iddah, a period she observed with patience, dignity, and a deep faith in Allah's decree."

Prayers for a New Beginning

The daughter offered sincere prayers for her mother as she embarks on this new chapter of life without her lifelong partner. Zahra expressed hope that Almighty Allah would heal her mother's heart and make the transition into this new phase of life smoother.

She specifically prayed for "tranquility and mercy" to surround her mother and for "a future filled with strength, clarity, and endless barakah." Zahra also asked that her father's soul find eternal peace in Aljannatul Firdausi, the highest level of Paradise in Islamic belief.

This public expression of support highlights the close family bonds that have helped the Buhari family navigate this difficult period of loss and transition.
