Woman Faces Seven Years of Rejection from Husband's Family

A Zambian woman named Estrella Tembo Mwanza has shared her heartbreaking story of being treated as an outsider by her in-laws for seven years, despite her commitment to her husband who lost both legs before their marriage.

The emotional revelation came on Saturday, November 15, when Mwanza responded to another Nigerian woman's question about avoiding conflicts with in-laws. Her response painted a picture of persistent disrespect and emotional pain from her husband's family.

Unappreciated Sacrifice

Instead of receiving gratitude for marrying their physically challenged son, Mwanza disclosed that her in-laws have subjected her to continuous insults throughout her seven-year marriage. She married her husband after he had lost both legs, expecting that her acceptance of him would earn her respect from his family.

"I don't visit them, no time to call or ask for anything from them," Mwanza wrote, explaining how she has adapted to the situation. "I just mind my own affairs since they already consider me to be an outsider. I now have time to make money and bathe."

Hurtful Comments and Silly Questions

The mother-in-law's cruel remarks included telling Mwanza that "I was not there when she was in labor giving birth to my husband." To this insensitive comment, Mwanza responded with sarcasm, wondering if her own mother "never went to labor she just plucked me from a tree."

She described her approach to handling such comments as "giving a silly answer to a silly question," indicating she has developed emotional defense mechanisms against the constant negativity.

Mwanza expressed her frustration about the lack of recognition for her role as a supportive wife, stating that "they ought to appreciate and respect me for accepting their son and bro." Despite seven years of marriage and unwavering support for her husband, the insults have continued without relief.

Her final declaration showed her determination to protect herself emotionally: "7 years of being insulted by them, no way I just gave them a wall of Jericho." This biblical reference to impenetrable walls symbolizes her decision to create strong boundaries against the toxic behavior from her in-laws.
