Sandra, who is originally from Imo State, married a man from Enugu State. The marriage lasted seven years before she decided to leave. According to her, the primary source of conflict was her husband's tendency to fulfill every request made by his mother, often at the expense of their marital relationship.
In her post, she stated, "I left him cause he was a mummy's boy, he does anything his mother asked. I suff3red in that marriage that I didn't have a choice than to leave him to marry his mother. First born but behaving like mumu." The term 'mumu,' a colloquial Nigerian expression for a foolish or naive person, underscored her frustration with his behavior.
Struggles with Identity and Documentation
Sandra also revealed that she still carries her ex-husband's surname, Onovo, as she has encountered difficulties in changing it on her official documents. She expressed her determination to eventually complete the name change, noting, "I have tried to change that name in my documents but bank is stressing me. I believe one day I will succeed."
Reflecting on her experience, she emphasized the importance of mental and emotional maturity before entering marriage. "Na because I still small then, nobody go follow me do that rubbish again now. That's why it's good to be mentally and emotionally matured before going into marriage," she wrote, indicating that her youth at the time of marriage contributed to her tolerance of the situation.
