Gavi calls for leniency after post-match brawl
Spain's World Cup winner Gavi has surprised fans by defending Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes, who attacked him after the World Cup final. Paredes grabbed Eric Garcia by the throat, prompting Gavi to intervene by hitting Paredes from behind. Paredes then pushed Gavi to the ground by putting his hand in the Spaniard's face. Nahuel Molina also struck Rodri, and Thiago Almada was involved.
Gavi's stance: 'It's all football'
Speaking during Spain's home celebrations, Gavi said: 'No, to tell you the truth, I don't think he should be suspended. I understand it's not a good image for children, but I think there's also that side to football, which is a bit more physical, more aggressive. The most logical thing would have been to send him off during the match, and that's it. In the end, I think it's all football, and it has to be that way.'

FIFA has launched an investigation into the behavior of players from both sides, which could result in suspensions or fines. However, Gavi's comments suggest he does not want further punishment for Paredes, emphasizing that such incidents are part of the sport's physical nature.
